Geb. 1963 in Großbritannien, Studium der Wirtschaftswissenschaften und moderner Sprachen an der University of Surrey (1982-1986, BSc), Studium der Politikwissenschaft am Otto-Suhr Institut der Freien Universität Berlin (1987-1990), Master Advanced European Studies an der Universität Basel, Schweiz (1997-1999, MA), Promotion an der London School of Economics und an der Universität Hamburg (Dr. rer pol 2016). 1990-2000 externer Mitarbeiter des Deutschen Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) und des Wissenschaftszentrums Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB), zuständig für die wissenschaftlichen Publikationen in englischer Sprache. 2000-2012 Senior Researcher am Europäischen Gewerkschaftsinstitut (EGI) in Brüssel, zuletzt Koordinator der Einheit ‚Economic, social and employment policies‘ zuständig für die Analyse der europäischen Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungspolitik und die vergleichende sozioökonomische Forschung. 2012-2017 Abteilungsleiter des Instituts für Makroökonomie und Konjunkturforschung (IMK) der Hans-Böckler-Stiftung, verantwortlich für die operative Leitung des Instituts. Seit 2018 Referatsleiter Europäische Wirtschaftspolitik. Forschungsinteressen: „Economic governance“ des Euroraums, Interaktion von Lohn- und makroökonomischer Politik, Soziales Europa, vergleichende politische Ökonomie; Aussenvertretung des IMK. Born 1963 in Great Britain, studied economics and modern languages at the University of Surrey (1982-1986 BSc), political science at the Otto-Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin (1987-1990), Master Advanced European Studies at the University of Basel, Switzerland (1997-1999, MA), Doctoral program at the London School of Economics und the University of Hamburg (Dr. rer pol 2016). 1990-2000 responsible for English language publications at the Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) und the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB), 2000-2012 senior researcher at the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in Brussels, latterly coordinator of the research unit 'Economic, social and employment policies’ and responsible for analyzing European economic and employment policies and for comparative European socio-economic research. 2012-2017 head of the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK) Department of the Hans-Böckler Foundation, responsible for the operative management of the Institute. Since 2018 head of unit European economic policy. Research interests: economic governance of the euro area, interaction of wage and macroeconomic policy, social Europe, comparative political economy; external representation of the IMK. Consultant and adviser to numerous bodies (incl. European Commission, European Economic and Social Council, Party of European Socialists, Foundation for European Progressive Studies).
