Europäisches Gespräch 2017

Tagungsbericht "Mehr Optimismus für Europa als für die USA"

Mit neuen Regeln zu mehr Wachstum und Wohlstand: US-Ökonom Eichengreen beim Europäischen Gespräch in Brüssel, von Eric Bonse (27.04.17)

zum Tagungsbericht

Europe is in dire straits. The USA under President Trump is banking on deals and nation states; the upcoming elections in France and Germany will set the direction for the further development of the European Union.

Many people find it increasingly difficult to see in the European unification process a path to greater prosperity and growth. They are turning away from Europe and towards parties critical of Europe.

The European answer cannot be: keep it coming.

Europe needs new rules for prosperity for all. We will discuss in the European Dialogue 2017 how these new rules must be framed, what they represent and who has to be involved.

We are pleased that Pierre Moscovici, EU-Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, is coming to the European Dialogue to lead the debate with us.
