Welcome to the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK). Due to its policy orientation and the limited resources at the IMK some publications appear in German only (especially IMK Reports and IMK Policy Briefs). Therefore on this page we can provide you only a with a partial impression of the research output of the IMK.
Unfortunately this also means that quite a few recent IMK publications dealing with the financial and economic crisis are mostly accessible to German-speaking readers only. Sorry for that. Nevertheless we hope that you find the remaining publications in English (IMK Working Papers, Briefing Papers for the EP, some IMK studies and books) inspiring and useful.

From the financial crisis to sustainability

From the financial crisis to the world economic crisis
The role of inequality -- A central cause of the crisis, which the public debate has taken little notice of so far, is the rapid increase of income inequality in many industrialised countries, but also in some emerging economies. English version of IMK Report No. 41. Download (pdf)
Wage share developments in the OECD
The determinants of wage share developments are analyzed in this study. In particular, the effect of technological change is often not statistically significant. Globalization (in production), however, has a robust effect. IMK Study by Engelbert Stockhammer. Download (pdf)
Adjustment in EMU: Is Convergence Assured?
We analyze the stability of adjustment in a currency union and find significant instability in the model for a large number of countries. IMK Working Paper by Dullien et al. Download (pdf)
Low-frequency determinants of inflation in the euro area
We use frequency-wise Granger-causality tests and error-correction models to investigate the driving forces behind longer-run inflation developments in the euro area. IMK Working Paper by Sven Schreiber. Download (pdf)
